When I saw this fabric I had to get it even though it is a slinky and hard to sew. This went together pretty well, I'm glad it had a facing for the neckline because the thin fabric really needed it. If I were to make it again I would make the neckline less plunging and probably do some sort of buckle or adornment at the waist sash.

I got this pattern because it is so flattering on everyone who has blogged about it. I did have a few problems (of my own making). Don't stabilize your knit fabrics on every edge, they need to stretch, duh. I did try on the bodice and with the Design Plus stabilizer I could barley get my arms in. I ended up cutting off about an inch on each sleeve opening and luckily it still fit.
My only other caveat is to finish the edges with the method that works good for you. For me that means using bias tape with thinner stretch fabrics. Just turning and using a double needle did not work on this fabric.
All in all I like this pattern.
Art in Bloom
You know it's spring when the MIA has the Art in Bloom. Art is paired with flowers, not much better than that.

This was fun to make, even though I used two spools of thread.
I did have a few revisions because of the weight and thickness of all the layers of denim. I had to use bias tape for the sleeve facing. On the collar I cut off the top portion, because it would have been too stiff, and not able to gather. If I make this again I would take in the waist and make it a little longer, that's all.
The one good thing I can say about the weather is that it's good sewing weather.

You know when you make this dress you have to do "the pose". Sorry to disappoint, but no windows with sweeping vistas to be found.
The only thing bad with this dress is that it does take a lot of fabric, went to the stash about three times before I found fabric with enough yardage.
I added an iron-on silhouette to the bottom of the dress and just ended up standing by the silhouette of the cat. Just happened, not planned.
I made the sleeveless version so I could wear in the warmer weather...coming soon. I put in the zipper, but you don't really need it even with woven fabric.
I went to a wholesale gem show today so I wore a necklace that I made and the vendor recognized her stones and liked how I had put them together.

It is the Twins opener here. We have an open dome and with the wind chill it feels like twelve degrees. Yikes!
I didn't wear this dress to the flower show, but I should have, it coordinates very well. Once again this pattern was from the stash, the copyright year was 2005. I just took out the tucks and gathered the skirt. I really like this classic pattern.
