Finally two nice days in a row. Celebrate!

This pattern was easy to sew, but not easy to cut out. It seems like the pattern layout was not correct for the two tone dress. I had to make copious notes to make sure it turned out correctly and it did.

On this dress I changed the pleats to gathers, except for at the shoulder. This seemed to work better with the crisp cotton fabric.

I saw this dress sewn up by the Slapdash Sewist last year and wondered why I had passed on this pattern because it was so cute. I wanted a stripe for this and found it in the stash. This pattern was very easy and fun to sew.

Butterick 9734

Last year we were exploring small towns in Minnesota and I found this fabric, but I did not buy it there because the people in the store ignored us when we went in, even though they weren't busy (they are now out of business). Then I became obsessed and knew I needed the fabric, luckily there is the internet!

This dress I had finished up last fall and it's been hanging around ever since waiting for a nice day. Since I don't use to many vintage patterns I was unsure of the fit so I added about an inch in the bottom portion. The waist ended up too big so I added on some elastic and that did the trick.

So, I love mixing patterns. I had some very sheer vintage fabric that I used for the sleeves and collar. I sandwiched three layers of the fabric together.

Finally a nice morning to wear a dress. Had to catch a few rays on my legs, since they are glow in the dark white from the long winter.

Loved this dress, just cut it and sewed it up with no fit issues. The top is great because it is not too low and no gaping. If you have a bigger top it may not be a good pattern for you because there is a lot of fabric in the sleeve area.

Normally I like to add some gathers to the back skirt, but it fit fine without.
