Just a Skirt

Burda 8849 is very fast and easy, especially if you don't use the waist band and zipper. I like that it is a full skirt but doesn't use as much fabric because of the six panels.

I have a few more items all ready for picture taking, but waiting for better weather so I can actually wear them for the day.

It is spring in Minnesota! It is twelve degrees or -11 C. Yes, that is real snow, not brought in for the photo shoot. The weather did motivate me to finish this, but this is not warm enough for today. Australia, could you send some warm winds our way?

Here it is up close. I used two different velveteen prints. This took about four days to make...too long for something pretty easy to sew. If I were to make this again I would make it in a heavier fabric and shorter.

Butterick 4973

Another pattern used that has been waiting forever. I may have to make this again, since it fits so well and is easy. Yes, there is still snow on the ground and I'm wearing sandals, just for the picture though. We all have spring fever here.

Just plain. The fit of this pattern is perfect. I made the neckline higher. Make sure you can fit your head through! I don't really like the flower placement, but I had limited fabric to work with. I asked my husband if he noticed anything strange and he didn't, so it seems safe to wear in public.

When I venture out I may wear this jacket with this dress. I didn't make the jacket, but it would be easy to do if you have some lace in your stash.

This jacket is super easy to sew. I love the fabric from Vogue. It is a stretch corduroy with cording overlaid.

I made this vest to go with a dress I have cut out, but not quite in the mood to sew it. If you make this vest, line it because using the self-made binding is a pain!

Bleached Jacket

I was walking by Chico's when I saw a cute bleached jean jacket. My first instincts are to go in a purchase it...but wait, I have a jean jacket at home I never wear.

To bleach the jacket I put about four inches of hot water in the laundry tub along with about one third of the jug of bleach. I wet the jacket and dunked and moved around the top portion of the jacket for about 20 minutes, then put it through one wash cycle with vinegar and one without. Yeah! A new jacket.

When I was cutting these out I was thinking why do I want to make two dresses that are basically the same pattern?

This pattern is nice when you don't want to break up the design in your fabric. It's a great basic dress, fun to accessorize with a belt, jacket or jewelery.
