Vogue 2193

Thought I'd blog about this dress while the weather is still warm and the Vikings are loosing.
This is the best side of the dress (who would think I would say that about the back)!

This pattern has been in the stash for quite awhile and I think I paid $35.00 for it...Yikes!
It was very different to sew and I will attempt it again. I would omit the zipper from the back, turn the front neckline into a slight V-shape and probably do a fall/winter version in stretch velvet.
The front neckline would give you that too close feeling if you are bugged by such things.

This fabric was from SR Harris and I did realize how thin (and show-through) it is. I have to wear a cami-bra and slip with it.

Mimi G did a version of this and hers is the ultimate, it looks like old Hollywood glamour.
If we ever get to Greece, I would pack this dress, sigh...

This seems like a popular pattern. I'm not liking my version as well as some others. I like the color (even though not the best for me), the buttons and trim. The fabric is just a little too heavy.

I added a facing at the neckline because I did not like a bias binding with the trim, too bulky. This pattern comes with cup sizes and I should have used the D instead of the C.

It's also a little tight for my liking, thanks to being almost housebound during the pandemic, but I wore it all day and it was comfortable.

Butterick 6450

For some reason I got it in my head that this pattern was fitted at the waist, so when I completed it early in the summer season and tried it on I was shocked that it was huge at the waist. So I grabbed the pattern and saw that it was meant to have an elasticized waist, even though my fabric was light I had serged the waistband and added binding, so it was way too thick for elastic.

I let this sit until now and decided to rip out the front waist seams and add darts. I'm glad I took the time to do this, because I now like the dress. Doesn't the above photo look like one of those dorky first day of school pictures? Ha! Ha! This pattern is very short-waisted in the front, but normal in the back...probably just me.

The sleeves are from another pattern and yes, I actually hand stitched the hem!
